About the event

This Food for Life class focuses on making three basic recipes that will help you add more plants to your plate.  In the class, we wil learn how to prepare and use these budget friendly recipes in many ways.  After the preparation demonstration, you will get to sample all three recipes and then talk about how you might make these recipes your own.

The class fee is $10.  My mission is to share ideas for healthy living by exploring adding more plants to our plate to all people.  If this fee strains your budget, you are welcome to use one of the following discount codes when you register - PPP50 for 50% off or PPP100 for a complementary class.

The Food for Life program is a direct service cooking and nutrition education program of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (Physicians Committee).

With over 1.7 million people diagnosed with cancer each year and more than 30 million people estimated to be living with diabetes in the United States—and many more cases across the globe—there is an urgent need for a new direction in addressing diseases. An innovative approach to a modern medical challenge, the Food for Life program aims first to prevent disease. When a disease has been diagnosed, the goal of the program is to improve disease survival.

Designed by physicians, nurses, and registered dietitians, each Food for Life curriculum includes information about how certain foods and nutrients work to promote health and fight disease. The classes work to translate complex scientific nutrition information into simple and easy meals. Each Food for Life nutrition and cooking class features a nutrition information and a live cooking demonstration—both within a supportive group setting.
