ABOUT THE FOOD FOR LIFE PROGRAM

The Food for Life program is a direct service cooking and nutrition education program of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (Physicians Committee).

With over 1.7 million people diagnosed with cancer each year and more than 30 million people estimated to be living with diabetes in the United States—and many more cases across the globe—there is an urgent need for a new direction in addressing diseases. An innovative approach to a modern medical challenge, the Food for Life program aims first to prevent disease. When a disease has been diagnosed, the goal of the program is to improve disease survival.

FOOD FOR LIFE CURRICULA

Designed by physicians, nurses, and registered dietitians, each Food for Life curriculum includes information about how certain foods and nutrients work to promote health and fight disease. The classes work to translate complex scientific nutrition information into simple and easy meals. Each Food for Life nutrition and cooking class features a nutrition information and a live cooking demonstration—both within a supportive group setting.
